About our Milk

Our signature product is our raw cream-line milk, a true delight for those who have experienced its rich taste and myriad health benefits. Unlike the sanitized and processed milk found in stores, our raw milk is brimming with life, teeming with beneficial bacteria that promote gut health and overall well-being. Each sip is a celebration of the pure, unadulterated goodness that nature intended.

To ensure the highest quality and freshness, we take meticulous care of our animals. Our cows reside right on our ranch, where we have the privilege of closely monitoring their health and happiness on a daily basis. By promptly addressing any concerns, we prioritize their well-being and minimize the need for drastic interventions. Additionally, we conduct on-farm laboratory testing of both our milk and cows to maintain rigorous standards.

At Raspberry Lane Ranch, we are proud to say that our milking equipment cleanliness standards are second to none. With commercial-grade sanitizing solutions, clean-in-place detergents, and acid rinses, we keep our equipment free of harmful bacteria, ensuring the utmost safety and quality for our products.

Our cows live a contented life on our pastures, spoiled with a barn for cover and an automatic cow brush for entertainment. The cow brush not only provides mental stimulation and entertainment but also helps reduce infections caused by flies and pests. During winter, our cows continue to roam and are provided with quality grass hay to snack on. We supplement their diet with a custom mix of locally sourced safflower seeds, non-GMO corn, oats, barley, and peas during milking time, although our raw milk is already easily digestible in its natural state.

Whole Raw Milk offers a delicious and natural option for those who seek a more digestible alternative to processed dairy products.

When it comes to the benefits of raw milk, organizations such as the Raw Milk Institute and Real Milk advocate its consumption. They explain that pasteurization alters the delicate proteins found in milk, while raw milk remains unprocessed and complete with bioavailable vitamins, minerals, enzymes, beneficial bacteria, naturally occurring CLA, and Omega-3 fatty acids.

Raw milk is milk that has not been pasteurized or homogenized, meaning it has not undergone any heat treatment or mechanical processing to kill bacteria, alter its composition or extend its shelf life. While raw milk consumption is controversial and not recommended by some health experts, there are several advantages to consuming raw milk that are worth considering:

Nutrient-rich: Raw milk is a good source of essential vitamins and minerals, including calcium, potassium, magnesium, vitamins A, D, and K, and various B vitamins. These nutrients are essential for bone health, immunity, and overall wellbeing. Raw milk is particularly rich in vitamin B12, calcium, and phosphorus.

Improved digestion: Raw milk contains beneficial bacteria and enzymes that aid in digestion. These microorganisms help break down lactose, the sugar found in milk, making it easier for some people to tolerate raw milk than pasteurized milk.

Potential allergy relief: Some individuals who are allergic to pasteurized milk may be able to tolerate raw milk due to the presence of beneficial bacteria and enzymes that can help reduce allergic reactions.

Improved immune system function: Raw milk contains immunoglobulins, which are proteins that help boost the immune system. These proteins can help fight off infections and may help reduce the risk of certain diseases.

Local and sustainable: Raw milk is often produced by small-scale farmers who prioritize ethical and sustainable farming practices. One way we do this is through the use of reusable glass bottles. By supporting local farmers, consumers can contribute to the development of more sustainable and responsible food systems.

Improved taste: Raw milk has a richer, creamier taste than pasteurized milk due to its natural composition. Many people prefer the taste of raw milk and find it more satisfying than conventional milk.

While there are certainly advantages to consuming raw milk, it is important to note that it also carries some potential health risks. It is recommended that consumers who choose to drink raw milk take appropriate precautions, such as purchasing it from reputable sources, storing it properly, and practicing good hygiene. Additionally, individuals with certain health conditions should consult with a healthcare professional before consuming raw milk.

What’s all this about A2 versus A1?

A2/A2 raw milk refers to milk that comes from cows that produce milk containing only the A2 beta-casein protein. This is in contrast to traditional milk, which contains a combination of both A1 and A2 beta-casein proteins.

The A1 beta-casein protein has been linked to digestive issues in some people, as it can be broken down into a peptide called beta-casomorphin-7 (BCM-7) during digestion. BCM-7 has been suggested to cause inflammation in the gut and may be associated with increased risk of certain health issues.

Cows that produce A2/A2 milk naturally produce milk that only contains the A2 beta-casein protein. The A2 beta-casein protein is structurally different from A1 beta-casein and does not produce BCM-7 during digestion. As a result, some people who experience digestive issues with traditional milk may be able to tolerate A2/A2 milk.

We understand that the science surrounding A2/A1 genetics in milk is still evolving, and our milk is about 50% A2. While we strive towards reaching 100% A2 genetics, as a small dairy, we currently cannot financially cull cows solely for this purpose. However, many of our customers who previously struggled with dairy intolerance have found that they can easily tolerate our raw milk due to its unique qualities and high cream content.
