We take pride in our commitment to sustainable practices, ensuring that our ranch is irrigated by well water instead of canal water to prevent chemical exposure to our pastures.

Why Raspberry Lane?
Our name, Raspberry Lane, holds a significant meaning rooted in our humble beginnings. It all started on a street called Raspberry Lane, where we once resided. Little did we know that this street would become the birthplace of our agricultural journey, transforming our lives and the lives of the animals we care for.
The catalyst for starting the ranch was a heartfelt desire to make a positive change in the food we consume. It began when we discovered that my mom suffered from severe discomfort whenever she ate eggs. Determined to find a solution, I delved into research and stumbled upon the distressing reality of commercial egg-laying chickens. The inhumane conditions these animals endured deeply saddened us, and we resolved not to support such an industry.
One fateful evening in March, a wild idea struck me, and I embarked on a mission. At 6 pm on a Friday night, I ventured out to purchase a few chicks from a Craigslist seller, intending to have just three. However, I was convinced to bring home six delightful chicks. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise because my mom could finally enjoy eggs without falling ill. Although we were simply raising chickens in our backyard, the profound difference in the quality of the eggs was unmistakable.
Curiosity led me to question the disparity between our eggs and those found in stores. I soon discovered that the key differentiator was simple happiness. In the stressful and confined environment of commercial operations, the chickens’ well-being suffered, reflected in the inferior quality of their eggs. Commercial eggs exhibited imbalances in cholesterol levels and Omega-6 to Omega-3 fatty acid ratios, while the pale yolks lacked the vibrant richness inherent in pastured eggs. It became clear to us that happiness truly enhanced the taste and nutritional value of food.
Chickens became our gateway into the world of ranching, igniting a passion within us. Those initial six chickens and their happy eggs became the driving force behind our journey, propelling us from California to Idaho. Here, we have expanded our operation, nurturing a “flerd” comprising 50 chickens, pigs, and now, eight cows.
